And The Game Ball Goes To…

By Adam Warwas

I was fairly confident that Minnesota was going to put their away game woes on hold for a week and beat St. Louis this weekend.  What never even crossed my mind, however, was a blowout in the Vikings favor.

The 36-22 score doesn’t do justice to just how well the Vikings manhandled the Rams on Sunday, but there are enough individual performances of note to point out that you know just from reading the stat lines which team was going to come out of this one victorious.

Giving the game ball out this week isn’t the easiest of tasks, as there are plenty of worthy candidates, but here are your candidates none-the-less.

ADRIAN PETERSON:  212 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries

MATT KALIL:  Chris Long’s incredibly quiet day says it all.

BLAIR WALSH:  100% field goal accuracy from 50, 38, 42, 53 and 51 plus 3 extra points.

CHAD GREENWAY:  13 tackles, 1 assist, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 sack.

EVERSON GRIFFEN:  1 tackle, 1 interception, 1 touchdown… and lots of QB pressure.

  • AD, AD, AD, AD, AD, AD...
    Told Fran I'd do that.
    Best back in the league.
Tom Brady is the best QB in the league...you guys watchin this? Incredible.

  • Brady has now thrown 61 passes...they have a potent passing game. But lose....how does that happen? Skol?

    • Well, to play devil's advocate, SOME might argue that a D allowing 41 points had something to do with it.

      • Maybe if they could run the ball effectively? You know...take some time off the clock.

        • 41 points allowed has a lot to do with it, but if you look at the first half Brady looked like ponder(int and 76 yards) and they were down by 28 i believe. Then the passing game got going and they stormed back to almost win

  • I couldn't help but notice Adam didn't have C.P. listed as an option for the game ball.

    Ponder hater.

  • Did you guys know-
M.Lynch has 1379 yards rushing, he is in 2nd place.
AD has 1313 in his last EIGHT games.

    • Did you know AD (you're welcome FTM) can fart louder than the Metrodome's official Gjallarhorn?

No but really, that's an incredible stat. It doesn't even make sense considering both the surgery and the stacked box he regularly faces.

Truly a Norse God, this one.

        • I too spent an inordinate amount of time pondering (CP-ing?) a reply to Tombs post but as time went on, I kept coming up with a response that became more and more risqué. Farting and prison kept coming to mind until I finally decided that there just wasn't a PC (No, not Christian Ponder) way of responding without pissing off Coach and others.
          So, no comment.

  • How is Jared Allen not on the poll? If AP didn't have such a great game ball would for sure go to Allen, stats weren't great but he played phenomenal if you watch him.

  • I had to give a vote to the Blair Walsh Project's record setting day. One more 50 yarder and he sets the all time record for 50 yarders in a single season, quite impressive for the rookie.
