Stadium Fight Takes Step In Right Direction

By Adam Warwas

If you support the Vikings proposal to build a new stadium in Minnesota (which I bet you do) then you will be happy to hear that Monday yielded some substantially good news in the ongoing battle.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said on Monday that he has secured a majority of the Minneapolis City Council with letters saying seven members of the Council would vote in favor of the current proposal.

“Is it time to build it? I think it is,” Rybak said on Monday.

The Stadium bill has yet to be approved by a single Senate Committee at the State Legislature level, but it is believed the support of Minneapolis could potentially help move things along and get the ball rolling again.

As always, there are still obstacles that are sure to pop up, but this is one more major obstacle that has seemingly been hurdled.

  • I'm tired of trying to be optimistic about the stadium. I think I speak for all Viking fans and just get the damn thing built!

  • I,m with Norse,
Just seems like this has been going on forever, To see this deal 100% Done can't come soon enough...

  • Im with norse...its been dragging on for years...just get the dumb thing done and get it built...then things would be alot better..the state needs the vikes and as fan we want to see it finally get done and done right...just do it

  • You'd lose that bet with me Adam. I for one (And I probably mean that in the literal sense) was kind of hoping for a move to LA. Being from Seal Beach in SoCal originally, I still have plenty of friends and family down there. I just can't help thinking about a trip or two every year to see my beloved Vikings playing down there while "Camping" out at my friend's beach house in Sunset Beach.
Do a little surfing (On a Harbour Surfboard, of course) a little tanning and catch a Viking game.
    That's what I'm talking about.

    • That WOULD be great Fran. I mean, surfing, tanning and camping, plus a Viking game. It just wouldn't get any bett...Wait...WHAT?!?

      • Yep, it would have been nice but it would have been hell on all my Vikings pals, so glad it didn't happen for their sake.
