Vikes Bring Roster Up To 89 By Signing Levi Horn

By Adam Warwas

The Vikings roster now has only one vacant spot.

On Friday, the team signed former Chicago offensive tackle Levi Horn.  At age 25, Horn stands at 6’ 7” and weighs 315 pounds.  He was a redshirt freshman at Oregon before transferring to Montana with hopes of getting more playing time.  In 2010, he went undrafted and signed with the Bears as a free agent.

Horn spent most of his time on Chicago’s practice squad but was put on the active roster in November last season.  The Bears waived him earlier this week.

According to his Wikipedia page, Horn is an active member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and is a spokesman for the White House’s “Let’s Move!” campaign.

  • Adam,
I think in the second sentence should be Levi Horn not Levi Brown. Anyway, I saw this news here first.
    Nice!

I don't know much about this kid other than he is a big boy. I think he will have a hard time beating out Pat Brown or D Love for a 53 man roster spot.

  • I gotta think DeMarcus Love is some hell of a swing guy, cause they carried him the entire year in 2011 without even activate him for a single game. They also did it with DeAundre Reed. I think they will have bigger roles this year and with an offseason I hope they will contribute.. Actually I think D. Reed could be nearly as good as Bruce Irwin (taken in the first round by seahawks). But that might say more about the seahawks pick than ours :P

  • Geez being cut by the Bears of all teams isnt exactly a ringing endorsement but hey the name "Horn" does have a Vikingesque sound to it.

    • thought the same thing, johnny, that being a bears reject isn't good, considering their O-line

  • D'Andre Reed will have more competition this year to make 53 man roster. The Vikings also signed a 7th round DE named Nick Reed.

This will be interesting to see which Reed has more versatility to play special teams or LB.

D'Andre only started 1 game in college because he was stuck behind more talented players... Guess what, the Vikings are loaded with talent at the DE position also.

D'Andre might needs to re-invent himself a special teamer or LB during camp this year.
