QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Give Your Game Ball

By Adam Warwas

The Vikings had a number of excellent individual performances on Sunday as they beat the Cardinals.  I want to know which player would get the game ball if you were in charge.

ADRIAN PETERSON:  23 rushes for 153 yards, 1 TD, and 2 catches for 6 yards (and a really nice form tackle on that Ponder interception)

PERCY HARVIN:  2 rushes for 10 yards, 4 catches for 37 yards, 1 TD, 2 kick returns for 46 yards

ANTOINE WINFIELD:  10 tackles and a sack

BRIAN ROBISON:  7 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble

HARRISON SMITH:  4 tackles, 1 interception, 1 TD

KEVIN WILLIAMS:  2 tackles, 1 sacks, 1 fumble recovery

CHRIS COOK:  2 tackles (but take notice of Larry Fitzgerald’s stat line)

  • Non of the above

Game ball goes to Everson Griffin

He played a fine game after attending his mother's funeral in Arizona on Saturday.

    • Great point Ole.
This is a tough one for sure but I had to go with Adrians awsomeness. A good case could be made for everyone on the list.

  • I nominate Harrison Smith for consideration. His TD was the margin of victory, and I swear that kid has given this entire defense an attitude they lacked in recent years. Of course, Adrian is very, very special. And I think he demanded to be given the ball on the game's final play.

      • Well Johnny...Coach ain't no spring chicken. Lets cut him a bit of slack, maybe he forgot to take his meds?

      • Well, so he is johnny. I coulda swore he was missing when I looked. I'm current on my meds, cart, but I shouldn't blog without my glasses, I guess. Sorry everyone.

  • Definitely Harrison Smith for me. This win comes down to the defense and he was our best defensive player. He is really starting to look like he could be something special, and I may be getting ahead of myself, but he reminds me a lot of John Lynch. He's the type of player who gives an entire defense an attitude (e.g. Ray Lewis) and it's really exciting to watch him come into his own (already)

  • Tough call, my 1st reaction was to go with Mighty Mouse. I love watching this dude play. Oldest on the team and he is just all over the field! How does a corner make a tackle on a run up the middle for no gain? Love it!
The rook Smith was great, he is making that #22 look good Mr. Krause. I like that, as I am sure you do as well. And hats off to Robison, good game, great motor.
But it's gotta go to AP, he is just...well, the best RB in the game. Bar none! Maybe not quite as fast, top end speed, as he was. But man, his cuts, vision and power are really something to see. I don't think any RB in the league can match him....

  • easy choice, AP

it takes a long time to develop a qb, so cut ponder some slack on this game

all the talk about playoffs and such is premature. sometimes a 9-7 or 10-6 team gets hot in the playoffs, and ya gotta make the playoffs to win a title, but i doubt that we'll even make the playoffs this season, i think we're just ahead of schedule enough to break a few hearts, if you let that happen

enjoy this while it lasts, we're playing with house money at this point at 5 and 2. getting 5 more wins will be very, very difficult. i'll be cheering for it to happen, but we're not there yet

  • I went with Harrison Smith. Our whole defnse is playing some good ball right now but that guy hs stood out. Love Winfield and AD too but Smith gets the game ball.

I know that Ponder is still young and learning but Man, right now, he is the weakest link on a potentially very good football team.
We play the 2nd to the worst pass defense Thursday night. He should be able to have a little better game than he did yesterday

  • O-line need s to pass protect much better for Ponder. No game balls for O-line this week.

  • woodson broke his collarbone, could miss our first garbage bay game

flex games start at week 11, our bye. we could be flexing

bears or lions to fall in the north tonight

    good, good, and more good

  • I am a little late here commenting on this post but I give my game ball to Harrison Smith. AP had a better game but it was his first pick 6, he played like a beast, and he did have the game winning score. I also think the game ball would be more important to a rookie than a guy who gets every other one.
