Ponder In “Excellent” Condition

By Adam Warwas

Like Adrian Peterson, quarterback Christian Ponder didn’t survive the first drive of the second half of last week’s game against the Redskins.

Like Toby Gerhart, Joe Webb came into the game and performed quite well in the comeback win, leading some to speculate that Webb, not Ponder, should be the starter in the Vikings season finale against the Bears.

It appears, however, that Ponder’s concussion-like symptoms will not prevent him from playing on Sunday.

Ponder returned to practice on Wednesday and head Athletic Trainer Eric Sugarman said that Ponder is doing “excellent.”

If Webb starts ahead of Ponder this week, it appears the move will be based on performance instead of injury.
