Answer: Yes and yes.
We aren’t entirely confident that Cine will make the 53-man roster — it feels like a 50/50 coinflip — but we sure as hell want him on the roster. Cine will have another opportunity to show out this weekend at Philadelphia after his marvelous outing at Cleveland.
If he doesn’t make the cut, it’ll be a case of too little, too late.
This week, FOX9’s Jeff Wald interviewed Cine and asked if the preseason performance was enough to secure a regular season roster spot. “I don’t know for sure. That’s not really what I’m thinking about. I’m just thinking about stacking another one. Add on to that, handle the things I can handle, and let the pieces fall where they may,” Cine replied.
It sounds like he thinks it’s 50/50, as well.
Answer: Yes.
We loved Thompson-Robinson leading up to last year’s draft and, in fact, hoped the Vikings would end up with him. No cigar. Dorian-Thompson didn’t do much in 2023, but such is life often for young quarterbacks in the league.
Meanwhile, Cleveland employs Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, and Tyler Huntley at quarterback, a crowded room that might leave Thompson-Robinson out in the cold.
We’d totally endorse a Thompson-Robinson trade for a late-round pick, perhaps even more so than trusting Jaren Hall’s development.
A: No.
Ibrahim had a wonderful college career but has yet to earn a single rushing attempt in the NFL. For now, he’s Minnesota’s RB6 and would need a serious upset special to become the RB3 in September.
He is, however, a prime candidate for the practice squad, and that might be the Vikings’ plan for him. He should see some action in Saturday’s preseason game at the Eagles.
