A: Well, the team evidently prioritized Za’Darius Smith and Chandon Sullivan foremost. You know, the Packer pipeline. No qualms there.
They’re either biding their time to sign him this week, enjoy Garrett Bradbury’s upside, or will draft one in 2nd-thru-7th rounds of this year’s draft.
This brand of leadership is difficult to predict because there is no documented track record.
But, we, too, would like to see Tretter anchor the Vikings 2022 offensive line. You’re on to something.
A: Probably not because we firmly believe a cornerback will be the first selection.
However, Adam Thielen isn’t young, so choosing another WR1 wouldn’t be the worst idea ever. This draft is also deep with wide receivers, meaning “waiting” until Round 2 or 3 would be fine, too.
Overall, we would be just fine with a wideout used at #12, but consider it a longshot.
A: This is a great mystery. We agree he deserves it.
Maybe the man prefers focusing on defensive lines, in which he excels. This would’ve been the perfect time to take the DC leap after “co” leadership of the Vikings defense in the last two years — which was really just Mike Zimmer as the puppetmaster.
Perhaps Patterson will earn the defensive coordinator label during the next coaching carousel cycle.
