Vikings have one way to make the post-season after Sunday

By Joe Johnson

That was a bad game.

The Minnesota Vikings laid another egg Sunday at home against the Chicago Bears a week after a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made this game a must-win if the Vikings wanted to make the post-season. So, now that they’ve lost that means the playoffs are no longer possible?

Not exactly.

The Vikings can still make the post season under the following strict circumstances.

* Two Vikings wins
* Two Cardinals losses
* At least one Bears loss

OR:

The NFL expands the playoffs to eight teams and the Vikings get in out of pity? If they haven’t announced that eighth game, it ain’t happening, so we’re going to have to hope that Minny wins out and the Cards lose to both the 49ers and Rams (which could happen).

The Bears would have to lose to either Jacksonville or Green Bay, which also might happen… Which means… Oh no, hope?

Don’t give me hope.
