Bump & Run: Football Begins [VIDEO]

By Sam Neumann

Football’s back, and it’s time to party. We bring you this special season preview episode of Bump & Run to call for an end to offseason bickering and lay out my reasons for positivity heading into Week 1.

The Vikings are a good team, and there’s no reason we shouldn’t have happy thoughts about 2017 (aside from decades of Vikings-related heartbreak, but…hey, what do you do?). In the end, we’re all Vikings fans, and the season opener marks the occasion when we must put lay down our #TeamGloves and #TeamSleeves affiliations (and tridents), and operate as one. For that, my friends, is the path to true fan enlightenment.

Click the link above or watch on YouTube here. You’re the best. #Skol

With love,

Sam

  • Did you say "Former" Vikings Territory Boss, Adam Warwas??
And what's this MO-FO shit? You talking' to me? YOU TALKIN' to ME!?

    • Hi Fran. Brett and I sold VT back in July. The new owner, Joe Johnson, plans to change almost nothing and Brett and I will still be around.

      • Sold VT? Well I'll be darned. I hope you guys got a good payday! I kind of feel like maybe me and Fran, Cal... Ole, BJohnny, Tomb (and any other old timers who are still around, haven't heard from Coach in a while) should at least get a T-shirt out of the deal.

        • CC, that's an excellent idea. God knows, we made Adam what he is today. Do you need my address for the T-shirt Adam?

          • Fellas! You're correct in that we didn't announce it, as we really didn't think it'd be of interest to many as long as the team keeps kicking out the awesome content that they do.

As far as reasons, it's kind of complicated in that there's no single reason... in short, though, Brett and I wanted to be plain old Vikings fans again. We wanted to enjoy game days without the stresses/guilt/expectations we placed on ourselves to manage the site.

You bet I owe you guys shirts! Email me sizes and addresses!

      • shouldn't we have seen an announcement or something in the wall street journal about this?

      • Had no idea. I must have missed the announcement. Any particular reason for the sale??

    • It's complicated -- Adam has been threatening to take his children back to Alaska and live off the grid for some time now, and he promises when he does that he'll completely disown VT. Far as I know, he's still in the lower 48 at the moment, though. He's an enigma, that one.

  • Sam, love your work. By the way, I am always happy. Of course, I am not the typical Vikings fan.

Did you notice that in the last year, the Vikings remade their QB depth chart from top to bottom?

    New Starting QB: Bradford
    New Backup QB: Keenum
New QB of the Future: Sloter

Sure, there are still some spare parts from the previous QB depth chart laying around. If memory serves, they are parked on IR and PUP. One of them might yield a seventh round pick. We probably won't get anything for the one whose leg almost falls off.

Peterson comes back this week, and reminds us why the Vikings sent him a text at 1 AM saying they wanted nothing to do with him.

    Signed,

    Team Sleeves

    • Thank you, Michael, and I do appreciate your positivity. Yes, I think the QB depth chart is set up nicely for this season, especially with Keenum taking the reigns of the backup job and Sloter as a developmental prospect. Wouldn't count Teddy out in the long run just yet though -- seems his rehab has gone reasonably well and he's got a real chance to play again at some point. We'll see.

    • Whose leg almost falls off? Nice. I'm hopeful Sammy can move the chains better this year, and finally make a postseason appearance. A better run game is necessary, so is getting 1st downs on 3rd and 7.
But if we're sitting at 4-4 and I'm Mike Zimmer? Teddy could be ready... and he's a winner.
      Team Gloves!
