Report: Minnesota Vikings Sign Travis Lewis, Ex-Lions Linebacker

By Brett Anderson

Originally reported by Peter Schrager of Fox Sports, and confirm by Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Detroit Lions linebacker Travis Lewis.

Travis Lewis, 28 years old, was originally drafted by the Lions in round seven of the 2012 NFL Draft. The 6’2″, 236 lbs. Oklahoma Sooner was primarily a special teams contributor in Detroit. Starting four games during the 2015 season, Lewis had 18 tackles and 1 sack.

Lewis adds depth to the outside linebacker position and will likely work with the special teams unit primarily.

No contract details are known at this point. However, anything outside a veteran minimum contract would be surprising for a strictly depth signing like this.
