Long time linebacker Chad Greenway has agreed to return to the Vikings on a one year deal.
Greenway’s return to the team leaves very little question about the Vikings ‘starting’ three linebackers entering the final month prior to the 2016 NFL draft.
A stalwart of the Vikings defense for the last decade, Greenway will likely play his last season in 2016 and thankfully retire a Viking.
With 735 career tackles, Greenway is third all-time in Vikings franchise history and has a chance to surpass Carl Lee who is currently first with 771 tackles.
Drafted out of Iowa in 2006, Greenway has fit in with the Vikings organization from the get go and has been a longtime fan favorite.
Greenway returns at the age of 33 with one goal in mind: becoming a Super Bowl Champion. He must feel good about the Vikings chances of contending in 2016.

This is good for everyone involved in the Vikings' family. Absolutely everyone.
I misspelled "great."
Yeah having to watch guys like Jared Allen and Kevin Williams leave and suit up elsewhere was bad enough, I couldn't have taken it in Greenway's case.
Hurray!
Very nice to hear. His leadership, what he brought to the table in pretty effective play last year, and what he gives to the community makes this a very nice signing.
Congrats to Greenwell. On the negative side with this signing and the signing of Newman, are coverage teams are going to suffer badly.
Boy, I bet Arif is pissed :)
Minny Vinny, What? Like, literally can't decipher what you 'our' trying 'ot' 'tripe'.
Hopefully Waynes wins the starting corner spot leaving Newman as a backup. Also I'm assuming Greenway is going to be a roll player leaving him useless as a special team guy. Who starts at safety opposite Smith. Griffin doesn't fit special teams as well. Remember only 45 players dress. This leaves a huge coverage problem.
Plus the incoming rookie class...a lot other back-up LBs and DEs....
I think waynes will play a big part in our secondary next year. It would be a miracle if It happens but if Ramsey slips to our pick he would fill our biggest gap in the defense. Either way i see us taking a player on the defensive side of the ball in the first round.
