Tarvaris Jackson was once thought to be Minnesota’s “quarterback of the future.” It became clear that he wasn’t working out the way his biggest advocate, Brad Childress, had hoped when the Vikings bounced him from his starting gig in exchange for an aging and expensive gunslinger.
Uttering “T-Jack” out loud will draw groans and cringes from most groups of Vikings fans, but he did alright for himself when he went to the Seattle Seahawks in 2011. Many referred to him as one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL (that sentence is true, but I’m not sure why) and he even got himself a Super Bowl ring when Seattle beat down Denver in February of 2014.
Jackson’s nine NFL seasons yielded a 59.6% completion percentage, 7,263 yards thrown, 39 passing touchdowns, and 35 interceptions. He also ran the ball 171 times over the course of his career, with a 3.7 yards gained average, and tacked on an additional six touchdowns.
The 33 year old quarterback seemed like a top candidate to find a job when training camps get underway, and injuries start to occur, but after an alleged incident involving his wife and a gun this week I’m going to go out on a limb and say that his NFL career is over.
During a vacation to Florida, Jackson was reportedly arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly pulled a loaded gun on his own wife and, according to the police report obtained by the Seattle Times, said “I’ll kill you” before a witness prevented him from doing so. The report says his children were asleep in a neighboring room during the incident.
The police recovered the gun, which Jackson initially denied possessing, along with some marijuana. He was booked, charged, and released on bond.
According to the police report, Jackson’s wife armed herself with a clothing iron and a few choice words for her husband when he threatened to shoot her.
“You better be accurate because you ain’t accurate on the field,” the report says she told him.

T-Jack's wife - "You better be accurate, because you ain't accurate on the field"
Not a joke, she actually said this when he pulled out the gun.
The timing, the truth in the statement; pretty funny. And brave as hell. However, he was drunk at the time and slinging insults that have so much truth in it.. They are both lucky that statement did not prove to be the "straw that broke the camel's back" inre his pulling the trigger.
Yeah luv....very brave of her. Another thing that was like how he played on the field...he didn't pull the trigger.
Ha! Too funny cc. That was an even better shot than from his wife!! SKOL!!!
