Brandon Bostick Writes Article About Special Teams Mishap, Death Threats, And Moving Forward

Newly acquired tight end Brandon Bostick recently penned an honest assessment of his life since his disastrous attempt to recover an onside kick in the NFC Championship Game.

Bostick, who was waived by the Packers afterwards and then claimed by the Vikings, says that he has had trouble getting that moment out of his mind. It haunts him as he’s falling asleep, as he is dreaming, and when he wakes up in the morning.

Of course, the media coverage and nature of social media has not helped him to try and forget about it, but Bostick’s article has a feel to it that suggests he needed to write it and get his feelings out there as a part of the healing process.

The article is well done and a great reminder that the players we talk about are not just robots and, while they chose a life in the public eye, have to deal with public scrutiny that very few of us can relate to. Nobody should receive death threats over a football game, ever.

As far as his role with the Vikings, Bostick sounds optimistic about what the future holds, and seemingly looks forward to turning the chapter.

The Vikings picked me up on waivers, and I think it’s a good fit. I’m really close to my agent, Blake Baratz, and his offices are in Minneapolis, so that’s a great support system. It’s also a young team, with a young quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, and another young tight end, Kyle Rudolph, who I can learn from.

Bostick says he looks forward to again playing in a Championship Game and says that will be the moment where he apologizes to all of his former teammates for his gaffe that so greatly contributed to his team missing out on the Super Bowl.
