In a move that will surely raise the hackles of the hackles of the hackles that have already been raised on Vikings fans this offseason, the Vikings have made a move that some will deem a waste of time.
The team has reportedly signed former point guard at Florida International University Nick Taylor.
The former basketball player work out at FIU’s pro day and apparently caught the Vikings attention by posting a forty yard dash in the neighborhood of 4.34 and 4.27. He attended the pro day after spending time with a low-level arena league last year.
The Vikings then brought Taylor in for a closer look on Friday and decided to sign him to a three year contract. Taylor said the team will give him a look as a return man, a receiver and a cornerback. He played defensive back for his arena team.
Taylor has a major uphill battle ahead of him if he plans on sticking to the roster beyond training camp.

hey this is not a >BAD< signing. He came so cheap and might just be a camp body, but with that speed there is some potential. could he add some weight (heard he was only 170 or something) he might have potential to do something. Rather want the Vikings to sign potential guys like this to camp, that not having good enough guys come training camp time.
I think it has more to do with the timing. Real football players are getting signed left and right, and we're focusing on a very long shot basketball player. That is why I think hackles will be raised even more than they already are... some might view it as a waste of time, when there isn't much time to waste

I have no problem with this...wish he were an inch or two taller, but yeah, give the kid a shot.
The way the Vikings are handling free agency is really making me very very nervous for the draft. They will probably draft a cricket player in the first 3 rounds.
Assuming he can catch well, I wouldn't mind seeing him return a few punts and maybe kickoffs. It will give Percy a break on kickoffs and get him more involved on offence. Although it certainly seems like a bit of a strange signing for free agency.
The timing is definitely what makes it odd, but I can understand it since he worked out at the pro day. This is a nice low risk high reward signing. He either shows something or gets cut in training camp.
I agree...with speed like and being an obvious athlete, im sure he wouldn't of caught the eyes of a professional football team if there was nothing he could offer

I love this pick up. Low risk high reward. I hope he can return punts and kickoffs. Vikings fans were warned for the last couple months on several Vikings sites not to expect much during free agency. This is just what I thought the Vikings would do. I hope they can sign the 2 players they have coming in next week. Why break the bank on one player. And any left over cap space we have this year can be used next year. The Vikings are rebuilding, not ready for playoffs this yet, like some of the coolaid drinkers want them to be.
