Game Ball Goes To…

By Adam Warwas

A number of excellent individual performances came about during Sunday’s upset over the Lions.  Who will you award the VT game ball to?

Christian Ponder:  24 of 32 for 221 yards and two touchdowns, plus 7 runs for 15 yards.

Adrian Peterson:  27 rushes for 171 yards and a touchdown, plus 3 catches for 5 yards.

Kyle Rudolph:  7 catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Jarius Wright:  3 catches for 65 yards and a touchdown, plus 1 rush for 3 yards.

Blair Walsh:  Broke Vikings franchise record for touchbacks in a season, and made 4 of 4 field goal attempts.

Antoine Winfield:  9 tackles and a recovered fumble.

Chad Greenway:  5 tackles and an interception.

  • I ain't votin' as I didn't watch the entire game today, only the highlights. From what little I saw, Harrison Smith will not be gettin' a Christmas card from Megatron. Forcible impressions last the longest.

    • thank you, mrs. wright, and next, ladies and gentleman, we'll be hearing from jarius' agent's wife

game ball to AP with 171. their safeties were out and that helped in both our running and passing games. want to see JW and percy play together

  • I'm giving the game ball to AP. I believe little Harvin should be considered tho, i somewhat favor rookies who have good games because his first game ball will mean more than Adrian's 90th. As for people voting Ponder, come on. The guy had an average game and people are thinking of giving him a game ball? For a QB to deserve a game ball he better have 350+ yards or 4 td passes. This just goes to show how, much our expectations have fallen for our quarterback position.

  • I have to go with the cyborg in this game, dude is just relentless. I wonder who will get the ax to make room for Wright? I'm guessing Jenkins.

  • Fred's new main squeeze is Titus Young Sr. What the hell is that? Sr.?

Do you think Titus might be worried that we confuse him on the field with his son?

Did anyone else notice that Chris Ponder's inner TJax came out when he threw that long completed pass to Jerry Wright? TJax would have been proud of Ponder's "almost jump pass". Fred's guy Chris Ponder still needs to put a bit of polish on the old foot work. Take a look at the film....yikes.

It was nice to see Ponder have a good day. He seems like a good guy.

  • Went with Ponder. He did a fine job. Tough to against AP, he is...unreal.
But after the last month he had, with guys like me calling for him to be benched, he played like a winner. Good job kid! Keep it up

  • I didn't see the complete game once again, just the Redzone highlights, and as much as it pains me, I have to agree with Skol; giving it to Ponder does feel a little like a "hey thanks for not completely sucking this time" award. He certainly wasn't outstanding.

Peterson, however, I thought I saw he had like 120 of his yards in the 4th quarter alone?

That's absolutely beastly. Like "I can divide by zero and there's nothin' you bitches can do about it" beastly. Clear winner, to me.

  • When we stop the run we win. When we don't we lose. I think the stats will back me up. If we shut down Forte, we have a shot.

    • I remember when Belichick, years back, created the template on how to beat the run-stuffing Vikes...by basically abandoning the run and passing your way to victory, so I'm not sure it's as simple as all that.

So, stopping the run, more of a guide than a rule?

  • Just sayin... What happened in the losses to Washington, Tampa Bay, and Seattle? They ran over us like a tank in a rose bed. What kind of running numbers did Gore, Johnson, that Arizona guy, and the Lions have against us? Stuffed. Sure, its not gonna be true 100% of the time (and I know I can count on you to find the one exception within memory), but I stand by the fact that when we stuff the run, we win. You can call it a guide, a rule, a policy, or a hunch, but its true.

To your Belichick example, however, I think we have a better resistance vs. the pass now than we did then. And are we even discussing Belichick out-coaching Childress? I'm not biddin' on that horse.
