An Extra Week At Mankato? Sweet!

By Adam Warwas

The Vikings have announced their training camp schedule and the most notable thing to pass along is that they plan to stay in Mankato for three weeks this year instead of two.

Usually the Vikings would go back to Winter Park for week three of training camp, but the ability to stay put is expected to be a welcomed change this year as players and coaches can stay in the nearby dorms and literally do nothing but focus on football every minute that they aren’t sleeping.

The elongated period of time is thought to be a result of the school’s lack of need for the dorm rooms and also frustration over Leslie Frazier’s decision to only hold camp in Mankato for 10 days last offseason.

The three week training camp is scheduled to start on July 26th and the team will soon be listing a full schedule of practice sessions.

  • Adam,
Will you be at Mankato for training camp?
I just found your site... I usually hangout at Vikings.com for my Vikings fix.
I may have to make this my new favorite Vikings site.

    • Carl, we'd love to have you frequent our site! Let me introduce myself:

I am a former Minnesotan that moved to Alaska 8 years ago and has never been able to do anything about the fact that I miss walleye fishing, pheasant hunting, and my mom's "bars" and "hotdish". The one thing I could do something about: getting my fix of Vikings football. I wrote at http://www.vikingsgab.com for about three years, but recently decided to join forces with Brett Anderson to start this here site.

we try and do our best to keep the site fresh and up-to-date, but the real reason you should keep coming back are the readers here. You will never find a better, more informed, purple-blooded fans anywhere else. These guys make this site the place to be.

So, yeah, glad you found us and hope you keep coming on back!

  • Welcome Carl. Freds thinks you will find this site well worth visiting often. The content is solid, the community of commentors is somewhere between completely lost and completely average with a sprinkling of knowledgeable. I will let the rest of these slappies slot themselves on that scale accordingly as they see fit. As for Fragile Freds, well, let's just say completely lost may be a compliment.

By the way Carl, do you have a twitter account?

  • Thanks Carterhof and Fred. I am looking forward to reading some of the fan insight here on Vikings Territory.

No I do not have a twitter account.

    • twitter is overrated
Anyway welcome carl, hopefully you will be joining our conversations about our beloved vikings.

  • Good for you Carl. No sense being a twit, I say. Yes welcome, I think you'll find this to be a pretty interesting visit when a little time becomes available during the day. And in the spirit of compliments, I would like to second the compliment that Freds is, indeed, completely lost.

  • welcome carl. your name reminded me of karl kassulke. that's a good start

it's a good thing no one impersonates old players or coaches around here cuz that could get confusing

    • Ok, Cal, for that... 20 push ups. You heard me, let's go. We don't need attitudes around here!
