The Minnesota Vikings on Friday announced the signing of two former Alliance of American Football players. Defensive backs Derron Smith (pictured above) and Duke Thomas were added to the roster. Both players were with the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF.

The Vikings made a couple of roster moves prior to Sunday’s night game against the New Orleans Saints. Offensive tackle Storm Norton was promoted to the 53-man active roster and defensive tackle David Parry was waived.
The biggest story surrounding Vikings today was news of Everson Griffen’s return. The defensive end had been away from the team working through mental health issues. Apparently that wasn’t the only action happening Tuesday. According to Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune, the Vikings also made a few practice squad transactions.
Rookie cornerback Mike Hughes was injured during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game between the Vikings and Cardinals. While covering Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, both players got their legs tangled and Hughes went down awkwardly.
