It was a rough game for the Minnesota Vikings against the Broncos. There were a lot of bad things this past Saturday, but some good as well.
This article is part of a series focusing on the Minnesota Vikings’ salary cap. For this series I’m going to break down how much each player on the team’s roster counts towards the cap as well as shine a light on his current contract.
This year’s NFL offseason is shaping up to be one of the most memorable in recent history. Not only have CBA talks advanced, the Combine shed light on an incredibly deep wide receiver class and an unprecedented group of quarterbacks including Dak Prescott, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Teddy Bridgewater is set to hit free agency. It’s an offseason that has the potential to change the landscape of the NFL.
Between the NFL Combine (February 24th-March 2nd) and the 2020 NFL Draft (April 23rd-25th) comes an important step in every team’s offseason process; the re-signing of internal personnel.Last year the Vikings created headlines during the free agency period by extending wide receiver Adam Thielen. There was also the story of Anthony Barr reneging on his verbal agreement with the New York Jets and returning to Minnesota.
While the Vikings are in the midst of closing out the regular season, the salary cap specialists over at Spotrac are peeking ahead to the offseason. They recently published an article naming a contract extension candidate and roster bubble candidate for each NFL team.
I’ll be picking an unsung hero from the offense, defense, special teams, and coaching staff. There is also one honorable mention.
Well, that was fun — for about 24 hours. Less than a day after the Vikings claimed safety Andrew Sendejo off of waivers from the Eagles, the Eagles swooped down and plucked the rookie who was waived to get him. Marcus Epps, a promising 6th-round safety out of Wyoming, was claimed off waivers by Philadelphia on Thursday.
