5 Vikings Draft Crushes — Per the People

First, free agency arrives in four weeks, and the Minnesota Vikings have about $60 million in cap space to sign in-house free agents and external newcomers.

And regarding the draft, we asked Vikings fans about their current draft crushes, players they can’t quite get off their minds in connection to the purple team.

Question to all: Who’s your current draft crush for the Vikings?

Here is the fans’ current list of draft crushes.

1. Shavon Revel Jr. (CB)

Shavon Revel Jr. is my draft crush for the Vikings. He’s 6’3, and he plays physical. Revel will fit in immediately with the Brian Flores defense.

2. Kaleb Johnson (RB)

I want to see how free agency and the combine go first. I like your idea of two running backs in the draft. Right now, my only draft crush is Kaleb Johnson, and it’s based on how he destroyed the Gophers. He had 21 rushes for 206 yards — 9.8 yards per carry!

3. Walter Nolen (DT)

My current draft crush is Walter Nolen, closely followed by Kenneth Grant. Nolen will bring explosiveness to the defensive line, which we haven’t had in a long time. If we address this in free agency with Milton Williams, maybe they will go a different direction, but pairing two interior pass rushers will allow Phillips to slide into a better spot for his skills and give us a nasty defensive line for years to come!

4. Travis Hunter (CB | WR)

He probably won’t be available to the Vikings, but Travis Hunter is my draft crush. How could he not be?

He’s a complete running back, and the Vikings could use some fresh young talent in the backfield. If the Vikings can cement the offensive line in free agency and then add a young, fresh halfback in the draft, it’s a great path forward. The later-round shots haven’t worked out, and signing the veteran tailbacks can only get you so far.

I just love Ashton Jeanty. Something is appealing about a guy who can slice through a defensive line like a warm knife in butter. He probably will go sooner, but if he’s there at No. 24, I definitely wouldn’t mind him on the depth chart for the next five years.
