Our Official Staff Prediction for Vikings at Panthers

The VikingsTerritory collective staff prediction for Vikings at Panthers is ready.
Minnesota lost in Week 3 to the Los Angeles Chargers, 28-24, a down-to-the-wire finish that once again broke against the Vikings favor.
Our Official Staff Prediction for Vikings at Panthers
The Panthers, like the Vikings, own an 0-3 record and enter Week 4 on Sunday with similar desperation stakes. Only six teams in NFL history have later reached the playoffs after starting a season 0-3. One team visited the postseason following an 0-4 start, the 1992 San Diego Chargers.
The writers at VikingsTerritory predict the Vikings will win their first game of the season.

Most of the group picked the Vikings to prevail, evidently confident that the Vikings can rebound on the road. Perhaps the committee is convinced Minnesota will solve its inconsistent ways.
Here’s how the panel sees the score for Week 4:
Dustin Baker: Vikings Win, 28-21
Sean Borman: Vikings Win, 27-17
Janik Eckardt: Vikings Win, 34-17
Josh Frey: Vikings Win, 30-27
Will Goodwin: Vikings Win, 31-16
Wes Johnson: Vikings Win, 34-24
Kyle Joudry: Vikings Win, 27-24
Adam New: Vikings Win, 27-20
Nate Powalie: Vikings Win, 31-13
Ted Schwerzler: Vikings Win, 31-17
Ali Siddiqui: Panthers Win, 24-20
Cole Smith: Vikings Win, 30-22
Mathematically en masse, we predict the Vikings will top the Panthers by a score of 29-20.

And our 2023 season standings for our writers’ predictions:
Dustin Baker: 1-2
Adam New: 1-2
Sean Borman: 1-2
Josh Frey: 1-2
Will Goodwin: 1-2
Ted Schwerzler: 1-2
Ali Siddiqui: 1-2
Cole Smith: 1-2
Nate Powalie: 1-2
Wes Johnson: 1-2
Janik Eckardt: 0-3
Kyle Joudry: 0-3

Last week, Sean Borman most accurately predicted the Vikings outcome. He picked Minnesota to win by a single point. The Chargers won by four points.
The point spread currently favors the Vikings at Carolina by four points. All signs point to rookie passer Bryce Young getting his third career start after missing last week’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Minnesota has won four of its previous five meetings with Carolina.

Sporting News picked the Vikings to defeat the Panthers, too, and SN‘s Bill Bender explained with a 26-23 prediction, “While Stroud is thriving, Carolina might be without Young, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 2. Andy Dalton passed for 361 yards in Dalton’s place in Week 3, but it was an inefficient performance in a loss to Seattle. The Vikings have lost three one-score games despite the fact Kirk Cousins ranks third in the NFL in passer rating (108.2). Minnesota gets in the win column.”
The Vikings haven’t started a season with an 0-4 record since the Donovan McNabb year — 2011.
