Vikings Send UK Fans Home Happy with Dramatic Victory

Explained: The Interesting State of the Vikings thru 14 Weeks

Two unbeaten teams in the NFL international series went head to head in London, with only one team likely to keep hold of that unbeaten record.

In a close encounter, it was the Minnesota Vikings who would send their UK fans home happy with a dramatic victory. In another tight game that went right down to the wire, the Vikings came out with the win for the second successive week. The UK Vikings fans were out in force on the streets of London before the game — then inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where their Vikings heroes delivered the result they craved.

The Vikings are now 3-0 in the international series — and 4-0 in all games in London. Most importantly, though, they move to 3-1 on the season. No matter what happens over the rest of the weekend, the Vikings will lead the division. Performances have been far from perfect, but results-wise, things couldn’t have started much better for Kevin O’Connell.

The Vikings had the chance to wrap this game up early but couldn’t get it done. In the end, they were left sweating on a “double doink” from a 61-yard field goal attempt by Will Lutz.

The inquest into the things that are going wrong can start tomorrow. For now, the Vikings are finding a way to do the most difficult thing in sport. Win. Long may it continue. After it was all said and done, we saw Kirk Cousins and Chandon Sullivan do the griddy off of the field in celebration. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Who knows when the Vikings will next be in London? The fans across the pond will certainly be hoping it is soon, and with the unblemished record the Vikings have in London, fans in the UK — like myself — will suggest they should come over every year for that guaranteed W. Of course, that won’t happen.

With all the challenges that come with traveling across the Atlantic to play a game of football, like the differing time zones and jet lag, the Vikings always manage to find a recipe for success. It was a tough physical game this time out against the Saints. There are a lot of things that the Vikings will need to improve moving forward if they continue winning games. For now, the Vikings star players are managing to make the important plays when it really matters at the end of games.

And it saw the Vikings once again come to London and send the UK Vikings fans home happy.
