Vikings Podcast: What are the Vikings Playing for Now?

3 Bold Predictions for Vikings at Lions
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports.

Put simply, the Vikings are no longer playing for the conference’s top spot. Instead, they’re playing for the #2 seed in the NFC. More importantly, these next 4 games are about getting into a good groove in time for the postseason. The latest episode of Notes from a North – a humble Vikings podcast hosted by yours truly and Sam – considers what went wrong at Ford Field.

Take a look at how Sam describes the episode: “On this weeks episode of Notes from the North, Kyle and Sam discuss the issues they saw with the Vikings and the themes they have noticed this season. They also talked about what the motivation should be for the Vikings now with the playoff picture becoming more clear, and then preview the game against the Colts.”

Philadelphia will almost certainly finish with the top spot in the conference. They’re an impressive 12-1, giving them a commanding lead in the conference. The Vikings, meanwhile, now face some competition just to hang onto the #2 spot. The effort in Detroit did very little to inspire confidence.

Thankfully, the next game will take place on Saturday. Jeff Saturday’s Colts are coming to town. Failing to overcome a team that is out of their own playoff race would be a pretty notable low point in the season. Indy has no business coming to U.S. Bank Stadium and securing a win over a team that has as much talent as Minnesota.

Once again, we leave listeners without a Wild update. What I can say with some confidence is that the hockey chatter will come back at some point, especially with the World Juniors coming up.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
