Vikings Players’ Reactions to Win over WAS

Checking In on Vikings Madden Ratings
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports.

Week 9 is in the books, and the Minnesota Vikings continued their hot streak, making it six wins in a row and moving to a 7-1 record. A 20-17 victory over the Washington Commanders got the job done and saw the Vikings take a commanding lead at the top of the north division in the NFC.

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears lost, leaving the Vikings way out in front.

The Vikings scored on the game’s opening drive via Justin Jefferson and then didn’t get back on the scoreboard until the 4th quarter. On a day that was mostly dominated by defense, the Vikings faced a 17-7 deficit when the offense got the ball for the first time in the game’s final quarter. The Vikings scored three times (one touchdown and two field goals) unanswered to win the game.

Here are some of the Vikings players’ reactions postgame, but first, we have Kirk Cousins leaving the field serenaded by the traveling Vikings fans.

Vikings Players’ Reactions

Cameron Dantzler was forced out of the game with an ankle injury, which left popular rookie Akayleb Evans to step in. Evans impressed, deputizing for Dantzler and coming up with a massive play on 4th down in coverage on Terry McLaurin. He added some hard-hitting tackles to give confidence to the Vikings if he’s needed going forward, should Dantzler miss any games. He had every right to be excited and “go crazy” after the game.

Meanwhile, Patrick Peterson’s message was short and straightforward to anyone doubting this team.

Justin Jefferson says the Vikings will fight to the end.

Camryn Bynum talked about the incident that led to the Commanders first touchdown. Bynum looked in great position to grab an interception until the back judge collided with him. The Vikings safety made light of the situation — easy to do when you go on to win the game.

Kirk Cousins Enjoys Return to Washington

Cousins returned to where it all started and got the win he desired. When the team looked in trouble, Cousins led a 4th quarter comeback. However, postgame, he was quick to praise others. Starting with Adam Thielen, who made his 500th career catch during the game — then heaping praise on T.J. Hockenson, who caught all nine passes that came his way for 70 yards. After only joining the Vikings on Tuesday, that is incredible.

Everyone wanted to see a postgame “you like that” from Cousins. We got it in the locker room huddle.

We finished with the defense’s celebration of Harrison Smith’s interception. Josh Metellus suggests there are plenty more to come.

Unsurprisingly for a team with a 7-1 record, there’s a lot of excitement amongst the team, and they are all enjoying themselves. Long may it continue.
