Vikings Player Reactions to Win over Bears

3 Vikings You Gotta Watch at DET

Week 5 is in the books, and the Minnesota Vikings moved to a 4-1 record atop the NFC North division. A 29-22 victory over the Chicago Bears got the job done, making it three wins in a row for the Vikings and three straight wins in the division. With a one-game lead over the Green Bay Packers, as well as holding the tiebreaker over their rivals, the Vikings are sitting pretty at the summit of the North.

How are the Minnesota players feeling after another win? Let’s look at some of the Vikings players’ reactions to the win over the Bears.

Vikings Player Reactions

Culture was the buzzword in the offseason, both before and after the appointments of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell. The ideology of what the Vikings wanted to instill as a franchise is already visible.

All is not perfect on the football field, but a group of players enjoying themselves and “in it together” is evident. You can see it when the team rallies around each other. This group plays as a team and wins as a team.

Akayleb Evans has become the darling of Vikings social media. He made a big play on special teams when the Bears tried for a surprise onside kick. He was also knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter with a concussion. Were either of these two things at the forefront of the rookie cornerback’s mind when he went on Twitter after the game? No. He praised his teammate for the game-winning play and a great team win.

Hitman on the Defense

Veteran safety Harrison Smith talked post-game about the much-discussed Vikings defense. There has been a lot of criticism about how the Vikings set up on defense. The Hitman makes an excellent point; this defense is a work in progress that is still learning a new scheme.

So far this season, one of the more fun moments came with the footage of Kirk Cousins wearing Christian Darrisaw’s chain on the flight home from London. People quickly brought it up again after Cousins made an electric start to Sunday’s game. Darrisaw himself had some fun with it post-game. I have the feeling this will be the gift that keeps on giving. If Cousins doesn’t turn up to at least one game this season with some serious “ice” around his neck. I will be most disappointed.

Finally, we have Jalen Reagor seemingly pleased with his first Vikings touchdown – as he should be.

Reagor has so much potential as a trick-play option for the Vikings. We saw a jet sweep go for 17 yards against the Eagles in Week 2, and now this one-yard touchdown on a shovel pass that nobody saw coming. I look forward to seeing what else O’Connell has in store for Reagor.
