Notes from the North: A Wacky Win

The Folks Picking the Bears over Vikings
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports.

The first and most important thing is that the Vikings left their Week 5 game with a victory in their pocket. Nevertheless, it was a bit of a weird game. Sam and I take on a variety of topics in the latest episode of Notes from the North, our Vikings podcast.

We spend the first several minutes discussing the special teams. Quite often, Sam and I focus our attention on the offense and the defense. However, Sunday’s poor performance from the specials prompted us to spend some time discussing the things that went wrong. It’s safe to say that there is lots to work on heading into Week 6.

The offense was probably the most impressive part of Minnesota’s win. It was a good game for Kirk Cousins, one that once again featured a game-winning drive. He has done well at the end of the games. It was also good to see Justin Jefferson do such a great job, though the offense could have been more explosive.

Meanwhile, the defense had another average performance. Justin Fields actually had quite a bit of success, and we’re getting to the point when the coaching staff may need to make some more substantial adjustments to generate more pressure.

We discuss some of these things and even some Minnesota Wild hockey in the most recent episode.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
