Today’s Vikings Game Just Took on Massive Implications

Coming into Week 5, the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings were deadlocked with matching records of 3-1. Of course, the Vikings had a tiebreaker over Green Bay due to their Week 1 victory, but the two seemed to be on a collision course for their New Year’s Day showdown in Lambeau Field.
That all changed when the Green Bay Packers fell in London to the New York Giants, 27-22. With some second half heroics from Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, the New York Giants overcame a 20-10 halftime deficit to grab the victory and improve to 4-1.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers fell to 3-2, and today’s Vikings game took on massive implications for the division standings. At noon, mere minutes after the Giants/Packers game ended, the Minnesota Vikings are set to kick off against the Chicago Bears in U.S. Bank Stadium.
With a victory, the Minnesota Vikings would jump to 4-1 as well, earning themselves another whole game of cushion ahead of the Packers. In addition, they would jump two games above the Chicago Bears.
Obviously, this Vikings win cannot be assumed as the Bears have always provided a tough challenge for the team no matter how talented either roster is. This is especially so with David Montgomery set to return to Chicago’s backfield.
Just like a win for the Vikings would be massive for Minnesota, a win for the Bears would once again create a three-team stalemate atop the NFC North at 3-2 between Chicago, Green Bay, and Minnesota. With this game suddenly taking on such huge implications as we approach the middle portion of the NFL season, expect both teams to come out fired up.
