Vikings LB LB Anthony Barr to miss rest of the season

The Minnesota Vikings were another team that caught the injury bug that swept through the league on Sunday. On Monday, coach Mike Zimmer announced that linebacker Anthony Barr suffered a torn pectoral muscle against the Indianapolis Colts. Barr will head to injured reserve and as Zimmer told reporters he’ll miss the rest of the season.

After Barr left the game, the Vikings used Eric Wilson and Troy Dye. Wilson saw an uptick from his 44 defensive snaps against the Packers to 67 on Sunday. Dye didn’t register a single defensive snap in Week 1, but saw 21 against the Colts.
For a defense already missing Danielle Hunter, waiting for new additions to find their stride and now needing to fill Barr’s role, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
This could also be the last time Barr plays in a Vikings’ uniform. The team has a potential out before the start of next season. In the five-year deal they agreed upon before the 2019 season, according to Spotrac, Minnesota can cut Bar with a dead cap hit of $7,800,000 and save around $7.5 million.
