Week 2 injury report: Cam Dantzler OUT

The Vikings will be without rookie cornerback Cam Dantzler when they take on the Colts this Sunday.

Per the team’s injury report, Dantzler was ruled out after missing his third straight practice with a rib injury. The third-round rookie made his first career start last weekend against the Packers. Still no word yet on how much time he’s expected to miss.

In his absence, look for Jeff Gladney and Kris Boyd to see increased roles. Gladney, who’s looked “good” so far according to head coach Mike Zimmer, could play most his snaps from the slot.

“Like all these young guys, it’s a continual work in progress,” said Zimmer. “Working on techniques, working on alignments, working on different things. But [Gladney] is a great kid. He’s tough, competitive, and I think he’s going to be a really good player in due time.”

Gladney and wide receiver Bisi Johnson were the only two other players listed on the team’s injury report this week. Neither player received an injury designation on Friday.

Indianapolis will be without starting tight end Jack Doyle (knee/ankle). The 30 year-old, who is a valuable part of the Colts offense, will be replaced by Mo Alie-Cox. Cox, 26, has started three games in his career. Measuring in at 6-6, 260, he’s mainly known for his blocking, increasing the likelihood the Colts will utilize 3-WR sets.

It’s worth noting, however, that receivers Zach Pascal and Michael Pittman, Jr. were each listed as questionable. While Pascal should suit up, Pittman, Jr. missed today’s practice after suffering a toe injury yesterday. Not having either player would leave Indianapolis thin at wide receiver depth behind starters T.Y. Hilton and Parris Campbell.
