Vikings Will not Allow Fans to Attend Week Six

With some teams beginning to open their stadiums to a limited number of fans, some have begun wondering if the Vikings will follow suit. The hope only amplified after the team opened U.S. Bank Stadium to 250 family members of the team.

However, it seems like that process of allowing casual fans to attend will not begin for week six. On Tuesday morning, the team announced that they will not be allowing fans to attend the game against the Falcons on October 18th. Instead, there will again be the same limit of 250 family members.

The team cited continually high COVID-19 rates in the state of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines when they made the announcement.

Obviously, we all as fans can’t wait to attend live sports again, and hopefully the day comes sooner than later. However, safety of both teams and fans alike remain the top priority when making these decisions.

After the Titans debacle in which three players tested positive for COVID-19, and the immediate result of their game against the Steelers being postponed, it just goes to show how quickly things can change if protocols are not properly followed. Given this and Cam Newton’s recent diagnosis, the Vikings’ decision is not surprising.
