This is why Diggs worked out in that AZ Cards Shirt…

Sigh.

After finally giving us a reprieve from all the drama surrounding his future with the team, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs had finally gone mostly silent on social media or at least, had gone less cryptic regarding his status/future with the team as of late. That allowed us to cover topics like, the three compensatory picks they were awarded yesterday.

Well, that was fun while it lasted.

Diggs yet again set the world of Vikings Twitter ablaze today as he was recorded working out in not a Vikings shirt, but rather in a black Arizona Cardinals shirt.

The nerve!

now, I’m being sarcastic. But I can totally see why people would read into this as when you send out cryptic Tweets (and answer cryptically during media scrums about the rumors surrounding a potential trade)? Diggs is a lot of things, but dumb isn’t one of them. He had to know what would happen if he posted/participated in a video with that shirt on.

That’s actually kind of reassuring, in a way. At least for those of us in the ‘Keep Diggs’ army, as it most likely means what many have suspected and that is that he’s mostly doing these things to rile people up online.

And… Can you blame him? Have you been on (Vikings) Twitter?

Then again, yes, you can blame him. Because he’s paid millions and millions of dollars to deal with the scrutiny of the masses and while that doesn’t exclude some of the more awful aspects of social media, it does mean that he shouldn’t participate in a process that clearly makes him unhappy.

It also is a distraction for his teammates, who have to endure question after question about their mercurial but hyper-talented teammate.

But back to the shirt.

Turns out it was much ado about nothing, reportedly:

So there you have it, Vikings/Cardinals fans! Like the Tweet last season from his younger brother (and potential future Viking Trevon) with Diggs in a photoshopped Redskins jersey, blame it on family!

Not exactly much ado about nothing, but pretty close. The fact that he came out and said that perhaps showed he didn’t actually mean for this to become this big of a story, and perhaps due to the hand-wringing it caused over in Eagan (and in the hearts (the hearts with hands?) of Vikings fans everywhere).

Let’s hope that this is the last Diggs trade related story we have to deal with for the rest of the off-season as it’s only MARCH. Jeez.
