Should the Vikings rest starters against Detroit?

The 6-9 Vikings are facing the reality that no team wants in it’s final game. Pointlessness. In fact, it’s a little more complicated than that as the Vikings are currently slotted as the 13th-pick in the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft, which means any win against the Lions would only hurt their chances at grabbing a major rebuilding piece moving forward.

On top of that, the Vikings could end up with a top ten pick if they’re lucky (which means, it won’t happen (but it’s fun to dream)). Then you throw in the potential for an injury to one of the superstar players on this offense and you’d think it’d be an open and shut case.

You’d think.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is nearing the single season record for touchdowns at the position, and rookie phenomen Justin Jefferson could have a monster game and break team and league records himself. But is it worth risking 2021 for individual records?

Does that sound like Zimmer’s MO?

It doesn’t, but neither does throwing in the towel (at least intentionally). So stay tuned during the long week to see if we end up hearing that some of the Vikings players are starting their off-season early.

My money goes to the team showing up as it usually does, although I did pick the Vikings to go 6-10 before the season so I wouldn’t mind pinning that to the top of every social media account we have…. Forever.
