Ten mid round prospects for the Vikings to consider

The Vikings are loaded with draft picks and are in position to control the NFL draft. Last year we saw them trade back several times and still net a player of value so I expect the same to happen again this draft.

In rounds 3-5 there are several impact players for the Vikings to choose from.

So, here are a few that should be of high consideration.

CB Amik Robertson :

Perhaps the best nickel corner in the draft, Robinson would be an absolute steal in the 3rd round. His size has killed any chance of being taken in the first two rounds, but his skill set and college production will make him a prime target for teams starting mid day two.

CB Cameron Dantzler:

Dantzler also boasts solid college production, but has slid down the board because of size and testing. While Dantzler is 6”2 he is only 180 pounds and lacks muscle mass. His length is his best quality, but the weight could lead to him being pushed around at the next level. He has great technique in zone, and does an admirable job in press coverage.

WR Van Jefferson:

Jefferson is the 2nd best route runner in the class behind 1st rounder Jerry Jeudy. Because of an injury Jefferson did not participate in athletic testing which will cause him to slide to the mid or late 3rd round. Once healthy he would likely become an instant contributor with good separation and route running.

Edge Khalid Kareem:

Kareem is a long prospect, with ropes for arms. He’s a freaky bender and exactly what the Vikings look for in an edge rusher. Quick first step, and solid at the point of attack. He has much to learn with pass rushing counters and could stand to add weight to become a full time starter. As a rotational piece he would immediately help fill the void left by Everson Griffen.

 Edge Alex Highsmith:

Highsmith brings power to the edge position and speed. Another prospect with long arms and a large frame for adding weight. He is explosive from the snap, but also has to learn the nuances of the season game before becoming an impact player.

QB Jake Fromm:

Fromm gets a lot of hate for not being a new age physical specimen. He brings all the mental tools needed to be a pro style QB but lacks the newly desired athletic ability. Matching Fromm with Kubiak would be a match made in heaven as he would quickly integrate into the offense and he should have no problem understanding the ins and outs of the scheme.

WR Devin Duvernay:

Dunvernay is a Deebo Samuel type of player. Elite against off coverage and even better when handed the ball behind the line of scrimmage. He holds tremendous value for teams who don’t wanna spend a 1st round pick on a gadget player. He would instantly take pressure off of Thielen and the running game as a sneaky game breaker.

iDL Jordan Elliott:

Elliott  is twitchy on the inside but his short arms leave him lacking. He has a good initial pass rush moves and lateral ability, but gets lost if he doesn’t win his rep right away. He could experience a big jump in production at the NFL level with the correct coaching. He would be an interesting project player for the Vikings.

iOl Matt Hennessy:

Hennessy presents as the best scheme fit in the draft for the Vikings. Great pass sets and a sharp boundary technique when in motion. Like many of the Vikings current offensive lineman Hennessy isn’t the strongest guy. An NFL system can help here, but Vikes would likely need to trade up to secure his services.

OT Prince Tega Wanogho

Wanogho is a developmental prospect that seems to be in the same place Brian O’Neill was coming out of college. Solid tools that just needed to  add strength. He already does well as an anchor and in run blocking. Added strength and some coaching with bend and flexibility could have him as starter in 2021.
