Notables

  • Quarterbacks Kyle Sloter and Jake Browning each continued to take QB3 reps during drills
  • WR Jordan Taylor, who didn’t come into Friday’s preseason game until the fourth quarter, spent most of Sunday’s practice with the second-team offense
  • LB Eric Wilson was terrific in coverage during 11-on-11 drills. He shadowed Irv Smith Jr. well, forcing a pass break-up and incompletion on separate throws to the flat
  • WR Davion Davis dropped a couple of passes during individual drills on Sunday. Davis is an incredible athlete that has made some acrobatic catches in camp, but he hasn’t shown enough consistency to garner more snaps or earn the special teams opportunities that he’ll likely need in order to make the final 53
  • With injuries to multiple offensive linemen, the coaches shook things up a bit with the 2nd-team line, at one point going with a front five of: Dakota Dozier, Danny Isidora, Brett Jones, Dru Samia, and Storm Norton
  • Kicker Dan Bailey made 5-of-7 of his field goals Sunday. Bailey has yet to have a perfect day in camp thus far and while he hit all of his extra point attempts on Friday, he’s done very little to earn the team’s trust in practice
  • WR Chad Beebe was everywhere on Sunday. He was running routes, holding for field goals, and taking punt returns at the end of practice. Beebe’s versatility has all but assured him a place on the regular-season roster so long as he can stay healthy

Highlights

  • It was a quiet day in terms of highlights, but it wouldn’t be Vikings training camp without a bomb from Kirk Cousins to Adam Thielen

Reflection

  • Despite the massive crowds at TCO, it was a pretty low-key practice on Sunday. Most of the excitement stemmed from today’s trade and resulting special teams speculation
  • Austin Cutting will be the Vikings’ snapper for the foreseeable future. The long-snapper battle officially ended today after the release of McDermott. With the acquisition of Vedvik, it’s likely either Dan Bailey or Matt Wile will be released in the coming days or weeks
  • New kicker/punter Kaare Vedvik will speak to media after practice tomorrow afternoon around 3:30pm. Perhaps we’ll get some clarity on how the Vikings intend to use him going forward
