8/15: Trevor Siemian. The “Effin’ A” Q&A is a unique training camp article featured only on VT. Players are interviewed after practice and asked a couple quick questions that Vikings fans want to know. Their typical response to being tracked down is how the name of this article was born.

How’s camp going so far?

“It’s going well. It’s been great. I think we’re kind of peaking at the right time. Good to have Jacksonville in, but it’s been great. Learning a new scheme and getting used to personnel and everything but [also] having a lot of fun.”

What are you looking forward to most going up against a great defense like Jacksonville’s?

“Great challenge and it’ll be good for us. Seeing some other players in certainly a competitive situation. It’s exciting to get out against some different colored jerseys at this point in camp. Kinda used to going against the same guys so it’s a good change-up for us.”

Back to the basics. What does Trevor Siemian bring to the quarterback position?

“I just try to support Kirk [Cousins] as best as I can. I’m working on a few things myself but just create good dialogue in there and obviously if something happens to Kirk, knock on wood, I’ll be ready to play.”

How are things different in Minnesota compared to Denver?

“There’s some elements in the offenses I’ve been in that I see come up here with coach Flip’s scheme, but certainly some differences in terminology. You’re getting used to all that so it’s an adjustment, but I’m not the only one. I think we’ve done a really good job of everybody growing together and getting into this thing together so it’s been fun.”

Is there a large learning curve to picking up John DeFilippo’s offense?

“Well, like I said you carry over what you can and then you hammer out the stuff that is new to you. [For example] calling plays that might be different. It’s an adjustment but it’s an adjustment for everybody and it’s something you’ve got to handle.”

What are some of the positives you can take from your performance Saturday night?

“It was good to be back out there in a live game. The last time I played I had gotten hurt so for me it was just good getting out there and maybe getting hit once and getting my feet wet again. So I really enjoyed it.”

Siemian led the team in passing in his Vikings debut. Against his former team in Denver, Siemian completed 11 passes on 17 attempts (64.7%) for 165 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. His passer rating was 111.2.

Although he hasn’t looked phenomenal in training camp by any means, he’s facing one of the NFL’s best defenses on a daily basis. Considering his performance Saturday night, there are plenty of positives for the Vikings’ backup to build upon moving forward.
