Power Rankings Week 17

  1. New Orleans Saints: The Saints won a tough battle against a good AFC team. The lesson from that game is the Saints are nearly unbeatable in New Orleans.
  2. Chicago Bears: The Bears have played outstanding defense all season, but the league seems to have caught up with their offense. It will be interesting to see how they fare against legitimate playoff contenders.
  3. Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are the best defense in the NFL and have been running the ball all over opposing teams. The big question is, “Can Lamar Jackson win playoff games?”
  4. L.A. Chargers: This team seems to be imploding at the right time. Just like they always do, the Chargers will choke away a great team and miss out on a Super Bowl chance
  5. Houston Texans: The Texans had a golden opportunity to remain the #2 seed and send the Vikings to the playoffs. They lost so neither of those things happened.
  6. Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks have a quarterback and coach with Super Bowl experience. They have the best run game in the NFL and they play tough defense. I didn’t even mention their elite wide receivers.
  7. L.A. Rams: The Rams rolled the Cardinals, and no one should be surprised. However, now they must play the 49ers, who have been playing good football in recent weeks.
  8. Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs haven’t gotten an impressive win all year. They have been close to great teams, but they never seem to win.
  9. Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers fumbled away their season. They have to rely on a Browns’ win this Sunday just to make the playoffs.
  10. Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys could actually win a playoff game or two with their defense, but how far can Dak actually take this team?
  11. New England Patriots: Tom Brady’s numbers are saying decline. I’ll hold my tongue for now.
  12. Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings defense is playing outstanding and Cousins is not making bad plays. This team could go far, if they play smart.
  13. Tennessee Titans: The Titans have a great shot to prove that they are actually a playoff worthy team. They have been up and down all season, but now they have a “win and in” game.
  14. Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles are making the entire NFL nervous now that Foles is playing again.
  15. Indianapolis Colts: The Colts have a shot to win their division this year, and now that their run game is working well, they can be a serious threat.
  16. Cleveland Browns: Browns fans may be upset about not making the playoffs, but if they lose on Sunday the Steelers miss out on the playoffs too. Throw the game Cleveland.
  17. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers were supposed to be a threat to the Saints.
  18. Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins aren’t that good of a team, but they got turnovers and had some luck all season.
  19. San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers have played very well considering all of their injuries. Nick Mullens for MVP!
  20. Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons are also playing well considering injuries. They have some good pieces in place for a bright future.
  21. Washington Redskins: The Redskins can send the Vikings to the post season with a win on Sunday. C’mon Adrian Peterson.
  22. Buffalo Bills: The Bills have improved a lot this season, and Allen looks like he could turn into a solid quarterback.
  23. Green Bay Packers: This is biased because I hate the Packers, but it took them overtime to beat the Jets. This team has miles to go before they are a contender.
  24. Detroit Lions: The Lions will finish last in their division because the team doesn’t respect the coach and the coach hasn’t looked that great.
  25. Oakland Raiders: The Raiders won their final home game (maybe), and that is great for Oakland’s fans.
  26. Denver Broncos: The Broncos have mailed it in, and they are reportedly drafting a new quarterback in this draft.
  27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: This team needs some defensive pieces and a new quarterback, and they might find one in this year’s draft.
  28. New York Giants: The Giants just need to replace Manning. He’s cooked.
  29. Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals need a complete overhaul of their front office and players. Blow this team up and start over.
  30. Jacksonville Jaguars: Like all of the bad teams, the Jags need a quarterback.
  31. New York Jets: They hung in there with the Packers, but the Packers stink so it doesn’t matter.
  32. Arizona Cardinals: The Cards are unsure of Fitzgerald’s future, their quarterback’s future, and the only player on offense that is any good is David Johnson. They need help.
