With Andrew Sendejo ruled out of today’s game due to a groin injury, the Vikings had a couple of options to replace their starting strong safety. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Vikings will role will George Iloka.

The team signed Iloka before the start of the season after he was released by the Bengals. His interest in the Vikings was due to the veteran’s familiarity with head coach Mike Zimmer. Despite that fact, Iloka had not played much, but he was given more playing time last weekend in the win over the Eagles.

Today’s game will mark Iloka’s first start with the Vikings.

Jayron Kearse, who had been playing well lately, was another option. Kearse will likely continue to see snaps at reserve nickel and be a top backup at safety.
