Inactive Players for Week 9 vs. Lions

The Vikings have announced the players that will be inactive for today’s game against the Detroit Lions. As expected, the three players listed as OUT on the team’s injury report will not play. Here are the remaining four players that will be held out of Sunday’s divisional matchup.

Vikings

  1. LB Anthony Barr
  2. LG Tom Compton
  3. RB Roc Thomas
  4. QB Kyle Sloter
  5. WR Stefon Diggs
  6. DE Tashawn Bower
  7. S Andrew Sendejo

Barr and Thomas are dealing with hamstring issues and Compton is recovering from a sprained MCL. Eric Wilson will start at linebacker for Barr while Danny Isidora will replace Compton for the second consecutive game.

Despite the injury to Thomas, the Vikings will still roll with three running backs as Dalvin Cook returns from his own hamstring problem. Cook, Latavius Murray and Mike Boone are all active today.

Rhodes apparently suffered a setback in practice on Friday. He went through an extensive pre-game workout to test his ankle today and it was determined that he WILL be able to play. He was limited in practice all week. Rookie cornerback Holton Hill would have filled in for Rhodes if he were unable to go.

Diggs was not able to practice at all this week and will miss his first game of the season due to a rib injury. The Vikings elevated Chad Beebe from the practice squad yesterday to round out the team’s depth at receiver. Laquon Treadwell will start for Diggs.

Andrew Sendejo is somewhat of a surprise inactive after practicing in full on Friday. Anthony Harris will start in place of Sendejo rather than George Iloka, who had started the last three games.

Welcome back!

  • As discussed previously, running back Dalvin Cook will return to field today after missing the last four games with a hamstring injury.
  • Left tackle Riley Reiff will also return for the Vikings. Reiff has been out the last three games while dealing with a foot issue. It’ll be interesting to see who plays at right tackle with Reiff back. Rashod Hill has been filing in on the left side, but rookie Brian O’Neill has exceeded expectations while starting at right tackle.
  • Xavier Rhodes will return after missing one game with a left ankle sprain.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Lions pass rusher Ziggy Ansah will be active today.
