David Morgan Returns, Kevin Stefanski Leads First Practice as OC

A new era began today at the TCO Performance Center in Eagan. Interim offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski took the field for the first time as OC. While there wasn’t much done in terms of implementing plays or going over the game-plan at Wednesday’s walk-though, the long-time assistant continued his dialogue with the players.

Also on Wednesday, the team released the first injury report of the week. Only one player was listed as a non-participant — Chad Beebe. The wide receiver has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury and was held out of today’s session.

Listed as limited participants were linebacker Eric Kendricks (rib), right tackle Brian O’Neill (ankle), right guard Mike Remmers (low back), defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (hip), and two more players that we’ll get to… Right now.

Perhaps the biggest news stemming from the practice was the return of David Morgan. Morgan has been out for four weeks with a knee injury. The tight end has been sorely missed on offense as the run blocking has struggled and his replacements have had issues catching the ball. Morgan practicing so early in the week bodes well for his chances of playing on Sunday. He was a limited participant on Wednesday.

Cornerback Trae Waynes also returned to practice in limited fashion. Waynes is working his way back from a concussion that was suffered two weeks ago against the Patriots.

Defensive tackle Jaleel Johnson (calf), cornerback Xavier Rhodes (hip), and wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) were all full participants in practice.
