Are We Still Mad About 2009? feat. Josh Pelto & Luke Inman [PODCAST]

With the New Orleans Saints rolling into Historic US Bank Stadium Monday Night to open the 2017 season, it’s impossible not to revisit the 2009 NFC Championship Game and the hard feeling many of the Vikings faithful still harbor towards the Saints, the refs, and certain players on that Purple squad. But are those feelings justified? We explore in the first half of the show because I rewatched the entire game for the first time since seeing it live with me own two eyes on January 24, 2010. Plus for some levity, the debut of our new weekly segment The Happy Hour Half-Hour, with Josh Pelto (@JoshThePelto) and Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman) having a few beverages and discussing some of the latest Vikings headlines. Sports Over Beers, if you will.

All that and more “Blame Childress” chatter on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

  1. Even before I saw this link on Bleacher Report, I was complaining to my co-worker this morning about the ’09 NFC Championship Game. there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about that robbery. I am still devastated, and certainly permanently scarred from that game. It was by far, the worst officiated football game I have ever seen, and by far the most painful Vikings game I had to endure. We were better, had them against the ropes, and the refs just let them rob us of our rightful place as NFC Champs. I don’t say this lightly either, as I believe in physical football and hate the direction the NFL has taken with more “finesse”. But that game had countless cheap shots that were WAY over the line. Cheap dirty play after play they were going after our star players. It makes me sick to think about it. I hope we beat their ass Monday night. And Peterson might as well have been a Saint that night, cuz he definitely contributed to their W. If not for Adrians blunders, we still would have beaten them despite their cheap dirty play. The sad part is, most of what they did was blatantly obvious and REF’s did NOTHING!!! THE REF’S ARE THE BIGGEST CRIMINALS FROM THAT GAME. THEY SHOULD ALL HAVE BEEN BANISHED FROM THE LEAGUE PERMANENTLY FOR STANDING BY AND WATCHING THAT SPORTS ATROCITY.
