Vikings Sign Dalvin Cook, All Rookies Now Signed

The Minnesota Vikings signed the last of their draft picks today, penning second-round pick Dalvin Cook to a reported four-year deal worth $6.35 million, with a signing bonus of $2.76 million.

The Vikings traded up in this year’s draft to select Cook with the 41st-overall pick. The running back out of Florida State was the team’s first selection and would be the first of 11 draft picks for Minnesota.

Cook’s Seminole career was somewhere between impressive and unbelievable. In 2016, his senior season, Cook rushed for 1,765 yards wand 19 touchdowns. He also had 33 catches for 488 yards and a touchdown through the air.

In 2015, Cook’s junior season, he ran for 1,691 yards and had 19 touchdowns. In 2014 he rushed for 1,008 yards with eight touchdowns. He left Florida State as the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards, taking down Warrick Dunn‘s 20-year FSU record.

Cook will join Vikings running backs Jerick McKinnon and fellow offseason addition Latavius Murray. In 2016, Murray averaged four yards per carry with Oakland and McKinnon averaged 3.4 yards per carry with the Vikings. At Florida State, Cook averaged 6.1 yards per carry last season.

It remains to be seen how the Vikings will choose to deploy their trio of backs, but Cook has a chance to start the season as Minnesota’s lead dog with Murray recovering from ankle surgery.
