Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman released a statement Monday regarding Michael Floyd:
Eden Prairie, MN (June 26, 2017) – When we signed Michael Floyd, we hoped he would show signs of improvement and we continue to expect that he shows progress and a professional attitude. We believe Michael will be a productive member of the Vikings organization, both on and off the field. Pursuant to the ruling of the Arizona Court earlier today, Michael will serve the remainder of his sentence and we expect him to be with the team at the start of training camp in Mankato when the players report on July 26.
The Vikings continue to support their wide receiver. The team is hopeful Floyd will make a positive impact for them on the field in 2017.
As things stand now, the Vikings receiver will serve one day in jail and then finish the remainder of his house arrest. He will be able to play during training camp. The sentence should be considered a win for the Floyd (and Vikings) camp.
It’s unclear whether or not Floyd’s actions will qualify him as a repeat offender under the NFL’s conduct policy. If so, the NFL will likely add games to his expected suspension to start the season.
