Quick Analysis: The Trade

By Carl Knowles

Miami traded a sixth round pick this year and a third and fourth round pick in 2017 in return for the Vikings third round pick on Friday Night. Rick Spielman certainly got good value in the deal, but what did the Vikings actually give up?

Kyler Fackrell, Javon Hargraves, C.J Prosise, Nick Vannett and Nick Vigil were a few of the notable players drafted after pick 86. The prospects that are still on the board that the Vikings didn’t covet enough are Andrew Billings, Kentrell Brothers, Jeremy Cash, Jerald Hawkins, Jordan Howard, Joshua Perry, and Christian Westerman just to name a few.

Hargrave and Vannett are really the only two players that I think the Vikings lost out on at this point that could have been contributors in 2016.

I also wouldn’t count on the Vikings passing on Billings again if he continues to fall. 13 defensive tackles have come off the board in the first three rounds, so, with Billings, Hassan Ridgeway, and Sheldon Day still available, the Vikings could still add value and depth at that position with the next pick.
