Bears Spook the Vikings on Halloween Night

The ghouls and the goblins were out on the field in Chicago on Monday night and they were not wearing purple and yellow. The Minnesota Vikings lost their second straight game of the 2016 season on Monday to the Bears by a final score of 20-10.

Minnesota was certainly in the holiday spirit on Halloween night as they did not look like the team that won five straight games to begin the year.

Chicago out gained the Vikings 403 to 258 in total yards and Minnesota’s offense looked like could not even move the ball in a game of Madden on rookie mode. Even if running back Jerick McKinnon was healthy enough to play on Monday, it likely would not have made a difference for the Vikings on offense.

The group that calls themselves “blockers” in Minnesota had another abysmal game for the purple. Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford was sacked five more times on Monday night and the team’s offensive line his given up 11 sacks in the last two weeks.

Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer simply stated after the game that his team, “didn’t make any plays.” against the Bears. For an offense that only converted on two 3rd-downs and rushed for 57 yards, Zimmer could not have said it any better.

They cannot continue to depend on their defense to give them easy scoring chances for every game. The offense has to make plays on their own at some point. This just has not been the case during the team’s last two games.

Speaking of not depending on the defense, allowing a struggling Chicago offense to convert on 50 percent of their 3rd-downs and rush for 158 yards is not how to go about winning a game. Minnesota’s defense may have actually missed safety Andrew Sendejo on Monday as his replacements (Jayron Kearse and Anthony Harris) missed a bunch of tackles.

There are only six days until the Vikings’ next game on November 6th against the Detroit Lions. With the game being in their home stadium, Minnesota will be hoping to break this losing streak and give their fans something to cheer about.
