Purple FTW! Podcast – Episode 226 – The Josh Freeman Bowl with Di Murphy

The Minnesota Fightin’ Vikings potentially got a Christmas Gift from Odell Beckham Jr by him acting a fool against Carolina and getting suspended for the Purple vs New York Football Giants Sunday Night Football showdown (pending appeal). Di Murphy (@DiMurphyMN) of The Daily Norseman rejoins the show to talk about if OBJ’s actions warranted suspension and if the NFL has the fortitude to uphold said suspension on appeal even though it would mean one of the league’s biggest stars missing a prime time game with playoff implications.

We also chatted about how men and women cannot be friends (sometimes), make fun of Josh Freeman and that 2013 Monday Night Football debacle in the Meadowlands, Di yells at me for wanting Eli over Peyton Manning in a last-minute drive situation, we bask in the greatness of Teddy Bridgewater’s performance versus the Bears, and ponder if Adrian Peterson and Teddy B can co-exist for another season or if “All Day” will be “All Gone” in 2016.

All this and other “WHY DID JOSH FREEMAN THROW 53 TIMES?!?” nonsense on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

  1. The only team that might be willing to pay the price e are the cowboys. Jines has surely realized that time is ticking on Romo and with that offensive line AD would make them super bowl favorites. Not sure we can allow that to happen without a kings ransom. I’d think multiple picks including a first and maybe one of their online men else we can’t do it. Not sure any other team would pay the price.

I think AD and Teddy can coexist, but I don’t think the offense is optimal unless Norv continues to call plays like he has the couple weeks. It seems to me that when this offense runs through Adrian it limits what we can do and too often puts us in undesirable positions. When run through Teddy we are far more effective. In addition to Norv running the offense through Teddy, AD also has to get better at run blocking. I think he has to be on the field on third down, and first down can’t be a telegraphed run every time.

AD would have to accept a diminished roll and would still have value, but I’m wth you in that I’m not sure AD will accept that. Unless he believes team success is more important than individual stats. I think he believes in Teddy and in this team, I think it will be up to him as to how he might fit into this team next year. Must improve e pass blocking and accept a diminished time, else he should be gone.

  2. Hey Andy, I’m a fan of your Podcast. but you got to give it up on the Adrian Peterson setting Teddy Bridgewater back thing. Are you trying to tell me having the best player at that position or any position is going to hurt your team? Be careful what you wish for. I would hate to think what other teams would be able to key in on if we didn’t have Adrian in the backfield. I imagine it would not get any easier on the Vikes. I am a huge Teddy Bridgewater fan and I get the feeling that there is nothing that this guy wouldn’t work on in order to make himself and the team better. Even with our subpar offensive line he still able to perform at a high level and prove people wrong. With last weeks opening drive against the Bears, there should be no question that Teddy and Adrian can work together. SKOL Vikes!

      1. This wouldn’t happen to be the real Chris Carter? If it was, what an honer. All you do is catch touchdowns! After we beat the Packers, I can’t wait to see the damage we do in the playoffs. Zimmer got this team playing great. A trip to Sanfran would not surprise me!

        1. Sorry to disappoint, but not the real CC. I can still catch the ball well…but not nearly like he can.
I think we could win some postseason games, 1st order of business….beat those cheese brains!
