Purple FTW! Podcast – Episode 203 – Vikings-Packers Border Battle with Arif Hasan

It’s almost time to party. We’re only two days away from our Minnesota Fightin’ Vikings welcoming in the Green Bay 2nd in the Division Packers for the biggest throwdown of the 2015 campaign. We brought in our man Arif Hasan (@ArifHasanNFL) to help get us ready for Border Battle 1.0 as well as expand on his latest piece about chlling out on Teddy Bridgewater.

Other topics include: why comparing Teddy to Alex Smith isn’t necessarily an insult, how the Zimmer Hellfire Defense can put the clamps on Aaron Rodgers, why the Packers offense is suddenly anemic, what to expect from Teddy and the passing game against the suddenly not frisky so Packers defense, and why the Purple’s recent record means absolutely nothing against the Green and Gold on Sunday.

All that and other “T-Shirts Are Dumb” nonsense on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

An Andy Carlson Joint.

  1. Seems like Peppers always lights us up whether with Carolina, Chicago, or those who shall not be named. If we contain him I think we win by two scores. On the flip side I think Rodgers will be under pressure all day long from all angles. Here’s to a good game, cheers.

  2. Love your stuff. This podcast & Arif’s writing is the best Vikes content on the web. (Please write more) Arif backs up his writing that is why its so good and I agree with most of it. My one question is why any analysis of year 2 Teddy doesn’t zero in on the lack of passing TD production. It is the only thing this “close to being great team” lacks.

Teddy and a competent group of WR/TEs are not creating enough passing TDs. The Pass Offense performs way below merely top 1/3 NFL passing offenses in TD production. So yeah its squarely on our young QB to get better. O line is up and down but elite run game + elite Defense is a crutch many young QBs would love. Agree QBs in these systems do not need fantasy type #s – except they have to take advantage of the massive opportunities strong run teams present their QBs on Play-Action shots. Teddy isn’t. I think Teddy could be very good. He isn’t yet. He must develop more throws besides (outs-hitches- shallows) for Vikes to generate pass TD performance playoff winners need. Teddy’s skinny knees are no problem – his Achillie”s heel is his inability to create consistent Passing TD production. Analysis that avoids that is limited. (apx 1 per game in 2nd year). For now Teddy is simply a safe QB that won’t lose the game for you: young, smart, high character, low ints but no TDs. My take- If Teddy doubles his TD rate all of his other numbers are fine, Vikes will immediately be legit SB contenders led by a legit Super Bowl Quaterback. Be nice to turn the corner today versus the Pack. Go Vikes. Go Teddy.
