REPORT: Vikings Trading To Acquire Mike Wallace

This is a developing story, and we know how those have gone so far this offseason, but here goes…

The Vikings have reportedly traded a fifth round pick to the Miami Dolphins to acquire disgruntled wide out Mike Wallace and a seventh round draft pick.

Wallace, along with defensive end Michael Johnson, was a recent top target of Rick Spielman’s as an unrestricted free agent. When he decided to sign with Miami instead, some rumors swirled around that he turned down more money from Minnesota and was dubious about playing in the cold.

Wallace is now 28 years old and owed $9,85 million in 2015 as part of a contract that runs through year 2017. His play in Miami was largely disappointing, but he is a deep threat in Norv Turner’s offense now, and clearly the Vikings feel strongly about his capabilities.

The draft pick compensation is certainly reasonable, but his contract status is what will determine the true value in this trade. If Spielman got him for such a low bounty and talked him into a pay cut, then this could be a really good deal.

Still, the perception is that Wallace is a diva wide out that has a possible attitude problem, and Vikings fans aren’t going to be excited if that shows up on a Sunday anytime soon.
