Links Of The Week: Chasing History

Tomorrow cannot be the end of the world.  I haven’t found out if the Vikings make the playoffs yet.  I haven’t witnessed Adrian Peterson break the rushing record.  So many unanswered questions!

Anyways, I wanted to share with you all what I daydream about:  Peterson breaking both the single game record and single game record this week… against the vaunted Texans defense… on the same play.  Pure awesomeness is what that would be.

Here is the best of the best from around the web.  Enjoy!

  1. Word has it Percy and Leslie got into a little scruffle. That is the reason Percy was put on the season ending IR not his ankle… Thoughts? Who would you rather lose Leslie or Percy?

    1. You would rather lose Percy? If I knew he wouldn’t butt heads with the new coach I’d give up Leslie first in a heartbeat.

      1. So… we just keep bringing in head coaches until all the stars are happy? Good luck with that. There is no reason for Percy to butt heads this seriously with Leslie. If that’s going on, don’t let yourself believe it wouldn’t happen with the next coach. This is a good time for Percy to learn who signs his checks, who calls the shots, and who runs bubble screens.

        1. Oh yeah Percy is in the wrong and needs to learn his place, I guess i just thought Percy was more valuable than Leslie. I think Percy is a semi-diva and needs a Bill Belichick to keep him in line. He doesn’t have the Chris Carter that Moss did to put him in his place. Pretend his issues don’t get worked out, should we trade him and for who? Fitz? Mike Wallace? To the pats?

  2. what’s not to like was plenty. turned it off after about 20 secs., barf

let percy blow up, he’ll still beast, and les can handle it

two games left to see how far AD can run and how much CP can plateau
i’ve actually really been enjoying our team lately

  3. I would hope that the last few games without Percy would have proven one thing: We don’t need to have Percy Harvin taking carries away from Adrian Peterson. Won’t it be sweet next year to add Percy-the-receiver to the current Adrian-the-running-back? Let them each do their job.

    1. A few Percy runs/reverses per game are a nice change up, as bionic as AP is, he does need breaks and i like Percy in the backfield more than Toby. If Percy is cutting into AP’s Carries then i have a problem.

  4. It’s not so much that he’s just getting into it with Frasier. He has a history of this behavior whether it was the physical altercation at Florida with his receivers coach or chucking a dumbell at Chilly’s head. The guys got a short fuse and it doesn’t seem to take much to set him off. If they can actually get good value for him (and too me that starts with a 1st round draft pick +, not a 2nd or 3rd which is what was mentioned in the Pelissero’s article) I wouldn’t blame the team for moving on. If you can’t get good value, then they need to find a way to make it work. Steve Smith has beat up a couple teamates during his tenure with the Panther’s but they’ve kept him around.
I expect to hear trade talk and I think the Patriots make a ridiculous amount of sense. Welker is on a franchise tag deal and I don’t get the impression they are going to back up the truck for him. Percy would take over his slot role and also give them the much more versatility in the run game then Welker ever has. Because the Patriots will be picking low I would hope for a first this year and next along with a utility guy like Woodhead thrown into the deal. If you could get a deal like that I think you need to take it. I love Percy and would be sad to see him go but for the right price I would understand the decision.

    1. While I agree, it is still hard for me to say we should trade the guy hes so explosive… I think New England is the most likely landing spot but it would also suck because Brady to Harvin would be impossible to stop.

  5. They’re just gonna have to deal with Cheech’s divaness. If Ricky trades him and he’s lighting it up for another team poor old Ricky will be run out of town if he’s lucky. You dont trade that kind of talent like they did with Moss. If I remember correctly the Moss trade netted us Troy Williamson.

    1. I would focus on the AFC for a trade partner. That way you know your only going to play him a couple times in his career. You trade him to an NFC team I’ll guarantee your going to end up finishing with the same division ranking as that team for about 6 years in a row and have to play him each season.
I really think the Patriots are the most likely team. He would make their offense so much more dynamic than it already is and probably not cost more than what Welker is going to demand to be paid. I’ld sure rather have Harvin in his prime than an aging Wes Welker. The big question would be is Belicheck actually willing to give the Vikings what Harvin is worth in a trade? The Patriots normally don’t give up high picks for the players they trade for, but Harvin’s impact might be worth it to them.

  6. I keep hearing stories about Percy, but have yet to see any proof or direct evidence of wrong doing (outside of the weed deal that let him drop into our laps).

He’s a passionate man, I have no problem with that.
