2011 NFL Draft

[Editor’s Note: Taking the week off to head down to Podcast Movement! But I wanted to leave you guys with some content to get you through this desert of football news with one of our most downloaded episodes ever. Please enjoy and I’ll catch you next week. -Andy]

Hindsight is 20/20. That’s why we jumped in our DeLorean and went back to save the Vikings from themselves in 2011. There was a run on quarterbacks early in the first round and de facto GM Rick Spielman panicked and overdrafted Christian Ponder at #12. He did hit on Kyle Rudolph in the 2nd and Brandon Fusco in the 6th, but I think we can do a touch better with hindsight and our time machine.

Come along with Purple FTW! as we redo the Vikings 2011 Draft!

Other 1.21 Gigawatts Talking Points Include:
• The Rules of Time Travel
• Remembering the 2010 Vikings (For some reason)

The Packers-Vikings Border Battle was always special to my Dad and I, as I’m sure it is to many fathers and sons on both sides of the river. The feelings and brain chemistry probably date back to prehistoric times when a father and his brood would share and bond over the hatred and disdain for a rival tribe and vice-versa. However our tradition wasn’t warring over the good pasture lands, but instead getting up to The Dome for the Packer-Viking game at least once every two years, starting when I was nine-years old in 1994.

2007 was the last one.

Andy’s off this week taking care of a baby that is apparently his. But we have a week full of classic Purple FTW! episodes for your rube ears!

Note: This is a throwback episode from August 5, 2014. Thoughts are still applicable though!

The Minnesota Vikings have a fresh start with new head coach Mike Zimmer and future franchise QB Teddy Bridgewater.

I believe the Vikings have a 4-year window to win a Super Bowl.

Listen in and find out why.

Last offseason we had an ongoing segment called “Andy Talks Potential Future Franchise Vikings Quarterbacks and Compares Them to Restaurants”. Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater was Manny’s Steakhouse because he’ll be expensive, but damn worth it. Listen to the Nostradamus like pontificating.

On Saturday (D-Day and an hour before American Pharoah secured his future in stud farming), The Wife and I welcomed the Newest Little Vikings fan, future Gopher All-American (Academic, Basketball, Hockey), future mechanical engineering doctor, and future President of the United States Margaret (Mugsy) Elaine Carlson to the world.

In true Purple FTW! fashion, I did up a mini-scouting report on the mini-me. Because: of course. Full episode after the jump!
