The Minnesota Vikings on Friday announced the signing of two former Alliance of American Football players. Defensive backs Derron Smith (pictured above) and Duke Thomas were added to the roster. Both players were with the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF.

With deadline to pick up the option of safety Andrew Sendejo just two weeks away, the Vikings may choose to pave the way for his replacement.Anthony Harris impressed many with his solid play last season. In just nine starts Harris collected 46 tackles, 3 interceptions and 6 passes defended. He also finished with the team’s second-highest PFF grade.

Last week the Vikings played a team that was winless on the road. This week they’ll face a team that’s undefeated at home. That team is the New England Patriots (8-3). For the Minnesota Vikings (6-4-1), it’s a tall task. After all, they haven’t beaten a team with a winning record all season. Now they’ll be tasked with one of the toughest tests in football; winning at Gillette. But lost in all the talk of facing the GOAT and a squad that hasn’t lost a home game in over a year — is the recipe for an upset.
