The Vikings welcomed their newest pass-catching weapon to Minneapolis on Saturday, the same day they released veteran Greg Jennings, and he spoke publicly about what is ahead for him in his new home.

“I’m excited to be here. Fresh start,” said Wallace on Saturday. “I’m excited about the opportunity that Coach [Mike] Zimmer gave me, [General Manager Rick] Spielman and the Wilfs. I’m excited. Great city from what I’ve heard. A great young quarterback. A lot of good players on the team. I’m looking just to be an asset to the team. I want to help out and do the best I can.”

Two years after signing a bloated contract, it was time for Mike Wallace to leave Miami.

Apparently, two years after signing a bloated contract, it is also time for Greg Jennings to leave Minnesota, with Wallace as his replacement. The Vikings announced the release of Jennings on Saturday afternoon, less than 24 hours after they completed a trade bringing Wallace to town.

Jennings, 31, caught 127 passes from multiple quarterbacks in his two years in Minnesota. He produced 1,546 receiving yards and and 10 touchdowns during that time. He also built a house in Minnesota, took on a leadership role, and immediately began his quest to be one of the most generous and approachable players on the Vikings roster.

Rick Spielman and the Vikings brass are currently hosting a dinner with defensive end Michael Johnson.

First, however, Rick Spielman had to button up a big trade that creates as many questions about the 2015 Vikings as it answers.

The Vikings have confirmed that they have traded for Miami Dolphins deep threat Mike Wallace. Reports are indicating that the Vikings got Wallace and a seventh round pick in exchange for a fifth round selection. The exact terms have not yet been confirmed (i.e. specific picks, pick years) that I have seen.

Austin Belisle (@austincbelisle) – the newest edition to Vikings Territory – joins the podcast to talk about the Minnesota Vikings and their journey through free agency, the Adrian Peterson (continued) drama, & the NFL Draft as we sail towards another season of the Purple.

The Vikings have been on the sidelines during free agency, while everyone and their mother spends like drunk sailors (*cough* Eagles *cough*), but as always we trust in Rick Speilman. It’s better to win in the fall & winter than win in March. In the meantime, let that cash & cap room pile up. Make Huell and Kuby want to lay on it in the storage unit.

Is Greg Jennings a #1 receiver? Can Jerick McKinnon be a featured back if Adrian is moved? Will the Teddy and NORVVVVVV marriage continue to be a productive one? All that and more “guaranteed money would ease concerns I still have” on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

Full episode after the jump.
