On March 13th, the Minnesota Vikings sent a fifth round draft selection to Miami in exchange for deep threat Mike Wallace and a seventh round draft selection. Not long after, they parted ways with veteran receiver Greg Jennings.

On Wednesday, the ramifications of this move came full circle and Jennings reportedly signed with Miami. According to those reports, his deal is for two years and worth up to $8 million, which is a far cry from what he was scheduled to make in Minnesota.

It is also considerably less than the salaries the Vikings are scheduled to pay Wallace over the next three years. According to Over The Cap, Wallace is scheduled to carry cap hit of $9.5 million this season and $11.5 million during his final two years.

I’m starting to get that “kid on Christmas morning” feeling as the 2015 NFL Draft is slowly sneaking up on us. I am as excited as anyone for Spielman Claus to put some new toys under little Mikey’s tree this year.

We have big festivities planned this year, with an NFL Draft Live Blog scheduled to cover every last trade and pick throughout Draft Weekend. I’ve even heard rumors that Vikings Territory will have boots on the ground at Winter Park and will be hosting some live reactions to all the action courtesy of the Purple FTW! Podcast.

Be sure to check back often for all the details, but you can certainly plan on making us your one-stop shop throughout Draft Weekend.

In the meantime, speculation season is in full swing, and tonight I’m taking a look around the web to see what everyone else is saying about the Vikings this time of year.

March was an interesting month that included a whole lot of wheel-spinning on the Adrian Peterson front, a trade that brought deep threat Mike Wallace to town and sent Greg Jennings packing, and also an extremely measured approach to free agency.

Before we get going on this week’s links, I want to take a look back at March and the most popular articles penned by each of our writers here at VT:

ARIF HASANA month ago, we published a sourced report that the Vikings were determined to get rid of Adrian Peterson.

DARREN PAGEAn incredibly detailed comparison of Teddy Bridgewater’s rookie season to those of other NFL quarterbacks.

ADAM WARWASTwist number 78 (give or take) in the Adrian Peterson “news” cycle was a report that the Arizona Cardinals were prepared to make a trade offer to acquire the superstar running back.

BRENT LABATHE: A look at how the fates of the Minnesota Vikings and the Cleveland Browns have been intertwining in recent years.

LINDSEY YOUNG: Defensive end Michael Johnson is once again “the one that got away” for the Minnesota Vikings.

AUSTIN BELISLE: There is a perception out there that the Vikings have backed Adrian Peterson into a corner.

BRETT ANDERSON: Partnering with Luke Inman to produce scouting reports of 2015’s top draft prospects has been a fun addition for the draft geeks around here (I love them, anyways). DeVante Parker’s scouting report has been the most popular of them all.

CARL KNOWLESOur “Sleeper Sunday” events have seemed like a nice distraction during these quiet weekends, but the evaluation of quarterback Brandon Bridge was particularly popular.

ANDY CARLSON: Taking the leap into the deep end of the pool, Andy gave us his first written opinion articles during the month of March, including one about the release of Greg Jennings being a justified move.

If you like all the content here at VT and want to support this fine group of writers, then we have a no-pressure option for you! Simply visit out Fan Cave store and do your online shopping through our Amazon links. After all, you know you want one of these. Or two.

Okay, onto our Links of the Week:

"With those skinny knees, Teddy's probably susceptible to bilateral weakness too."

Your bracket is toast, time to get back to Vikings football! Tom Schreier (@tschreier3) of Cold Omaha and 105 The Ticket joins the show to talk about the latest Minnesota Vikings news, what big things are going down at the Twin Cities newest sports radio station on the rise, as well as Tom’s path in the world of sports journalism at the co-founding of CO.

The Vikings continue to show that they’re truly a year round spectacle as there’s always news/drama brewing as we saw last week with Mike Wallace & the Pounceys, the latest stare-down between Spielman and Adrian’s camp, as well as Adrian birthday camel. Because why not. If AP doesn’t want to be a Viking, at least he can be Aladdin.

“Why’d the Vikings cut him? He was such a nice guy.”

That seemed to be the overriding sentiment when the Vikings announced they had cut bait with soon to be 32-year old wide receiver Greg Jennings Saturday afternoon, only two years into a five-year $47.5 million deal ($18m guaranteed). Not impassioned pleas of “He’s still a #1 receiver” or “Jennings still has something left in the tank”, those came after all of the nice guy pinings – and then to a much lesser degree.
